About Charlie Waite
Charlie Waite (b. 1949) is firmly established as one of the world’s leading landscape photographers. He founded the Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards in 2006 with the aim of providing a showcase for those around the world who share his passion for the art of landscape photography.
Waite worked in British theatre and television for the first ten years of his professional life, where he became fascinated by theatrical lighting and design. Gradually the landscape and the way it can be revealed to us through light and shade stole him away from the acting profession.
Waite has established a worldwide reputation for his particular approach to his work, and his photographs are held in private and corporate collections throughout the world. His photographic style is often considered to be unique, in that his photographs convey an almost spiritual quality of serenity and calm.
