'URBAN' BY PAUL SANDERS

AN ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY TALK ON 24/02/21 10:30-12.30

Urban view is one of the categories that gets a little over looked, people find the challenge of making sense of the urban environment more challenging than the sweeping lines of a classical landscape.
LPOTY judge Paul Sanders will present a discussion about urban photography, how to use an open minded and curious approach to the landscape of towns and cities.

There are so many possibilities right under our noses in around the urban fabric of the UK and yet it seems to pass many photographers by, this is usually because of the enormous amount of distractions and the challenge of access to some sites.

With a careful and considered approach Paul will explain his way of working and how he gives everything a chance to be photographed. One of the key elements is an open minded approach, not sticking to conventions or rules and listening to your heart.

Paul will explain the joy of getting lost and working after dark or before dawn, and how that can offer more opportunities for a unique unseen perspective on the urban world.

'HOME' BY PAUL SANDERS

A PHOTOGRAPHY TALK ON 03/03/21 10:30-12:30

Home is where the heart is, but is where the art is? We largely take our homes for granted, itching to get away to photograph beautiful locations. Exploring and being familiar with the landscape and opportunities close to home will help you become a better photographer. By understanding the changes in the environment where you, by observing and being part of the world that surrounds our home can yield some incredible and unique photographic opportunities.

Join LPOTY judge as he explains why his favourite location is the area immediately around his home in Kent and why he loves to be just ten minutes from his door to photograph the seemingly unremarkable landscape in his part of the world.

Paul explains "As a judge when I look at the entries to competitions there are so many repeated locations, photographers travel vast distances to achieve their take on a familiar subject, and while that is a wonderful thing to see it is often the unique, the unseen, the surprising that catches my eye”
While we can’t guarantee a win we can guarantee you an interesting insight in to how to make the best of you home locations.
