Nigel Atherton has worked in photography magazines since 1994 when he joined Amateur Photographer, the world’s oldest consumer photography magazine, as a Technique Writer.

He was appointed Editor of What Digital Camera in 2002 and became Editor of Amateur Photographer in 2013. Prior to becoming a photography journalist, Nigel had a career as a professional photographer, working in a variety of photographic fields.

In his role on AP he has developed an appreciation of the art and craft of a variety of genres within photography, including landscapes, and uses a wide range of equipment in his own photography.
