Photographer and journalist

Damien Demolder started his photographic professional life at the age of 18 and is a photographer, journalist and consultant, having been editor of Amateur Photographer magazine for seven years.

With interests in all areas of photography, Damien does not have a favourite subject, only subjects he is currently concentrating on. At the moment his efforts are going into landscapes and social documentary, as he runs popular street photography courses. When judging photography competitions Damien looks for signs of genuine talent or hard work. Originality is important, as is demonstrating a real understanding of the subject and an ability to capture it in a realistic manner. He says ‘Drama is always eye-catching, but often it is the subtle, calm and intelligent images that are more pleasing and enduring.’
